About MacPilot CLI
MacPilot CLI is an open-source tool that lets LLMs interact with macOS over MCP. It is for AI assistants that need to operate a Mac's system and interface, with tools for mouse, screen, windows, apps, and shell operations.
Key features
- 01Get cursor position and control mouse
- 02Paste text and capture screen
- 03Run shell commands
- 04Open and list apps
- 05Inspect windows and accessibility information
Use cases
- 01Let an AI assistant operate macOS apps
- 02Capture the screen and inspect window details
- 03Perform interface actions with mouse and text input
MCP support
It exposes macOS system tools to MCP-compatible applications. Once configured in an MCP client, its mouse, screen, app, window, and shell tools can be called.
Configuration
Local server config is the same for every client. Copy it into your client’s MCP config file.
We haven’t collected a package or remote endpoint for this server. Follow the instructions in the project README.
Tools
Local servers expose tools only once running on your machine, and the maintainer has not provided a tool list.

Getting Started
- You need a Mac computer with Apple Silicon running macOS 14.0 (Sonoma) or later
- Download the binary file from the Releases section
- Configure your MCP-compatible application (Cursor or Claude Desktop app) by adding the following configuration:
{ "mcpServers": { "macPilotCli": { "command": "/path/to/downloaded/binary" } } } - Grant the necessary permissions (screen recording, accessibility) to the application you're using with MacPilot CLI. For example, if you're using Cursor, make sure Cursor has the required permissions in System Settings.
- Switch to a tool-compatible model according to your application's requirements, and you're ready to use MacPilot CLI

New to MCP?
From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.
An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
