About agentcontext
agentcontext is an MCP server for @mbeato/agentcontext that normalizes context files used by coding agents. It parses supported formats into a unified intermediate representation, then renders that representation into selected target formats.
Key features
- 01Parse multiple agent-context formats
- 02Convert files into a unified representation
- 03Render one or more target formats
Use cases
- 01Inspect context files in a repository
- 02Convert project rules for another agent format
MCP support
It exposes two MCP tools: one parses detected repository context files into a unified representation, and the other converts that representation to target formats and returns a file map.
Configuration
Local server config is the same for every client. Copy it into your client’s MCP config file.

MCP server for @mbeato/agentcontext — normalize agent-context files (AGENTS.md, CLAUDE.md, GEMINI.md, .cursor/rules/*.mdc, .windsurf/rules/*.md, .clinerules/*.md, CONVENTIONS.md) from any MCP-aware coding agent.
Two tools exposed:
read_agent_context(path)— parse all detected formats in a repo, return one unified IR.convert_agent_context(ir, targets)— render the IR to one or more target formats; returns the file map.

From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.
An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
