MCP Calculator Server
LocalAbout MCP Calculator Server
MCP Calculator Server is a Python calculator that makes common arithmetic and mathematical functions available to MCP-compatible clients. It is intended for clients that need callable calculation tools.
Key features
- 01Basic arithmetic operations
- 02Powers and roots
- 03Factorials and logarithms
- 04Remainder calculation
- 05Sine, cosine, and tangent
Use cases
- 01Perform arithmetic in an MCP client
- 02Calculate powers, roots, or factorials
- 03Compute logarithms and remainders
- 04Evaluate basic trigonometric functions
MCP support
The server exposes its mathematical operations as callable tools over MCP, communicating through standard input and output.
Configuration
Local server config is the same for every client. Copy it into your client’s MCP config file.
We haven’t collected a package or remote endpoint for this server. Follow the instructions in the project README.
Tools
Local servers expose tools only once running on your machine, and the maintainer has not provided a tool list.
Details
From the project READMEMCP Calculator Server
A simple calculator server built using the MCP (Machine Communication Protocol) framework. This server exposes basic mathematical operations as callable tools via MCP, making it easy to integrate with MCP-compatible clients.
Features
- Addition, subtraction, multiplication, division
- Power, square root, cube root, factorial
- Natural logarithm, remainder
- Trigonometric functions: sine, cosine, tangent
Requirements
- Python 3.8+
mcppackage (and its dependencies)
Installation
-
Clone the repository:
git clone https://github.com/yourusername/mcp-calculator-server.git cd mcp-calculator-server -
Install dependencies:
pip install -r requirements.txt
Usage
Run the server:
python server.py
The server will start and listen for MCP requests via standard input/output.

New to MCP?
From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.
An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
