About MCPClient Python Application

MCPClient Python Application is a Python application for interaction between an MCP server and an Ollama model. The README provides a client launch command and an example message workflow, but limited detail on its capabilities.

Key features

  1. 01Python-based MCP application
  2. 02Interaction with an Ollama model
  3. 03Run the client with uv

Use cases

  1. 01Connect an Ollama model to an MCP server
  2. 02Launch the Python client locally

MCP support

The application is described as interacting with an MCP server and external resources. The README indicates that server scripts can be Python or JavaScript.

Configuration

Local server config is the same for every client. Copy it into your client’s MCP config file.

No install method listed yet

We haven’t collected a package or remote endpoint for this server. Follow the instructions in the project README.

Details

From the project README

MCP Python Application

This is a MCP application designed to interact with external resources.

Requirements

  • Python 3.7 or higher
  • asyncio library (included with Python)
  • mcp (custom library for handling MCP communication)

Setup

  1. Clone the repository (or download the script files) to your local machine.

  2. Run the client :

    uv run client.py

    The server script can be a Python .py or JavaScript .js file.

Example Workflow

  1. The user enters a query like:
    http://127.0.0.1:8000/process_message
    {
        // 哈囉
        // 我想知道我有哪些collections
        // 幫我輸出隨便五個資料
        "message": "幫我輸出隨便五個資料",
        "session_id": "1"
    }
    Question1: How is the weather in California today?
    Question2: What collections are available in the database?

From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.

An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
