About Astral Project with uv
The README describes a Python project setup using uv for package installation and virtual environment management. It does not document the advertised document storage or retrieval behavior, so its MCP capabilities are unspecified.
Key features
- 01Create Python virtual environments
- 02Install packages from requirements.txt
- 03Install packages from a project file
- 04Freeze installed dependencies
Use cases
- 01Set up an isolated Python environment
- 02Install project dependencies with uv
- 03Record the current environment in requirements.txt
Configuration
Local server config is the same for every client. Copy it into your client’s MCP config file.
We haven’t collected a package or remote endpoint for this server. Follow the instructions in the project README.
Tools
Local servers expose tools only once running on your machine, and the maintainer has not provided a tool list.
Details
From the project READMEAstral Project with uv
This project uses uv, a fast Python package manager created by Astral. uv is a drop-in replacement for pip, pip-tools, and virtualenv, designed to be much faster.
Requirements
- Python 3.8+
uvinstalled
Installation
First, install uv if you haven’t already:
curl -Ls https://astral.sh/uv/install.sh | sh
Or use pipx:
pipx install uv
Creating a Virtual Environment
Create a virtual environment with uv:
uv venv .venv
Activate it:
• On Linux/macOS:
source .venv/bin/activate
• On Windows:
.venv\Scripts\activate
Installing Dependencies
Install the packages listed in requirements.txt (or pyproject.toml if you’re using modern packaging):
uv pip install -r requirements.txt
Or if using pyproject.toml:
uv pip install .
Adding a New Package
To add a new package:
uv pip install package-name
Freezing Dependencies
Freeze the current environment packages into requirements.txt:
uv pip freeze > requirements.txt
Why uv?
• Much faster than traditional pip and virtualenv
• Manages virtual environments and packages in one tool
• Built by Astral
Happy coding!
Would you also like a French version alongside it (like a bilingual `README.md`)?
Or maybe you want a smaller **minimal version**?

New to MCP?
From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.
An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
