About mcp-filesystem-server
A Go implementation of an MCP filesystem server, based on an existing filesystem server and created as a project for learning the mcp-golang library. It is for users who want to expose selected local directories to an MCP client.
Key features

- 02Configure allowed directories
- 03Built with mcp-golang
Use cases

- 02Connect an MCP client to local filesystem paths
MCP support
Exposes filesystem access for configured directories to MCP clients. The README shows configuring it in Claude Desktop.
Configuration
Local server config is the same for every client. Copy it into your client’s MCP config file.
We haven’t collected a package or remote endpoint for this server. Follow the instructions in the project README.
Tools
Local servers expose tools only once running on your machine, and the maintainer has not provided a tool list.
Details
From the project READMEmcp-filesystem-server
A Go implementation of the Model Context Protocol (MCP), enabling seamless integration between LLM applications and external data sources and tools. The main purpose of implementing this project is to learn github.com/metoro-io/mcp-golang. There is already an mcp-filesystem-server in the github.com/mark3labs repository. This project is also implemented based on github.com/mark3labs/mcp-filesystem-server.
Usage
Install the server
go install github.com/qiangmzsx/mcp-filesystem-server
Add this to your claude_desktop_config.json:

From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.
An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
