About Tapd MCP Server
Tapd MCP Server is an archived project for connecting TAPD functions to MCP clients. Its documented capabilities cover retrieving requirement templates matching a query and project role ID mappings.
Key features
- 01Archived and no longer maintained
- 02STDIO server usage
- 03SSE server usage
- 04Retrieve matching requirement templates
- 05Get project role ID mappings
Use cases
- 01Find requirement templates by query
- 02Retrieve project role ID mappings
- 03Connect TAPD functions to an MCP client
MCP support
It provides STDIO and SSE server modes for MCP clients. The documented tools cover requirement templates and project role ID mappings.
Configuration
Local server config is the same for every client. Copy it into your client’s MCP config file.
We haven’t collected a package or remote endpoint for this server. Follow the instructions in the project README.
Tools
Local servers expose tools only once running on your machine, and the maintainer has not provided a tool list.

📥 Usage
Use STDIO Server
Build the tapd-mcp-server
git clone [email protected]:go-tapd/mcp.git
cd mcp && make build/cmd/tapd-mcp-server
./bin/tapd-mcp-server # <--- This is the command to run the STDIO server.
Configure the MCP server
Below is a configuration example based on Cline, with different configurations for various MCP Clients.
{
"mcpServers": {
"github.com/go-tapd/mcp": {
"command": "{path}/tapd-mcp-server",
"env": {
"TAPD_CLIENT_ID": "<YOUR_CLIENT_ID>",
"TAPD_CLIENT_SECRET": "<YOUR_CLIENT_SECRET>",
"TAPD_WORKSPACE_ID": "<YOUR_WORKSPACE_ID>"
}
}
}
}
Use SSE Server
Install the package
go get github.com/go-tapd/mcp
Create a server
package main
import (
"log"
"net/http"
"github.com/go-tapd/mcp"
"github.com/go-tapd/tapd"
)
func main() {
client, err := tapd.NewClient("client_id", "client_secret")
if err != nil {
log.Fatal(err)
}
workspaceID := 123456 // replace with your workspace ID
srv, err := mcp.NewServer(workspaceID, client)
if err != nil {
log.Fatal(err)
}
http.HandleFunc("/", srv.ServeHTTP)
if err := http.ListenAndServe(":8080", nil); err != nil {
log.Fatal(err)
}
}
Visit http://localhost:8080/sse to get the SSE stream.

New to MCP?
From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.
An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
