About Mcp Prompt Optimizer (local)
Mcp Prompt Optimizer (local) is a deprecated rules-based prompt formatter for users who want prompts processed on their own machine. It analyzes prompt content while preserving technical details and supports template management across Windows, macOS, and Linux.
Key features
- 01Local rules-based prompt optimization
- 02Technical detail preservation
- 03Debugging context detection
- 04Save and reuse templates
- 05Windows, macOS, and Linux support
Use cases
- 01Optimize prompts without sending them to a backend
- 02Retain code and technical parameters during rewriting
- 03Reuse saved prompt patterns
- 04Run prompt optimization on supported desktop or server platforms
MCP support
It runs as an MCP server that MCP clients can configure using its command. The README shows configuration examples for Claude Desktop, Cursor, and Windsurf.
Configuration
Local server config is the same for every client. Copy it into your client’s MCP config file.
We haven’t collected a package or remote endpoint for this server. Follow the instructions in the project README.
Tools
Local servers expose tools only once running on your machine, and the maintainer has not provided a tool list.
Details
From the project README🌍 MCP Prompt Optimizer Local - Cross-Platform Edition
Final release - this package is deprecated. It is a rules-based prompt formatter with no LLM tier. Frontier models rewrite prompts better on their own, so we are no longer developing it. Existing keys keep working; any end date will be announced in advance. For templates, evaluation and Context Engineering use the cloud package:
npm install -g mcp-prompt-optimizer.
Advanced Local Prompt Intelligence Engine with complete privacy and sophisticated content analysis. Now with universal cross-platform support for Windows, macOS, and Linux.

Single command works everywhere! The installer automatically:
- Detects your platform and architecture
- Downloads the correct native binary
- Verifies integrity with SHA256 checksums
- Sets proper permissions and validates installation
🛡️ Security Features
- 🔑 License Key Authentication - Prevents unauthorized usage
- 🔍 Binary Integrity Verification - SHA256 hash validation
- 🚪 Multi-Gate Installation - Four-layer security validation
- 🏠 Local Processing - Prompts are optimized on your machine and never sent to the backend. The free tier needs no key and makes no network calls; a license key is validated with the backend
- 🛡️ Tamper Detection - Detects modified or corrupted binaries
🎯 Key Features
- 🧠 Intelligent Content Analysis - Advanced prompt optimization
- 🔧 Technical Parameter Preservation - Maintains code and technical details
- 🐛 Debugging Scenario Detection - Context-aware optimization
- 📝 Template Management - Save and reuse optimization patterns
- 🤖 Rules-based optimization: AI-aware, runs entirely on your machine; no LLM calls and no OpenAI key needed
- ⚡ Performance Optimized - fast local startup, sub-second optimization on typical prompts
💰 Licensing Options

New to MCP?
From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.
An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
