About HyperIndex MCP Server in ReScript
HyperIndex MCP Server in ReScript is an MCP server example for developers learning server setup, tool registration, error handling, and resource cleanup in ReScript. It includes calculator and REST API interaction examples.
Key features
- 01Demonstrates server initialization and configuration
- 02Registers and manages tools
- 03Shows error handling and logging
- 04Cleans up server resources
- 05Includes calculator and REST API examples
Use cases
- 01Reference ReScript server initialization
- 02Learn tool definition and registration
- 03Review a calculator tool implementation
- 04Explore a REST API interaction example
MCP support
The project implements an MCP server and demonstrates tool registration and management. Its examples include calculator and REST API interaction tools.
Configuration
Local server config is the same for every client. Copy it into your client’s MCP config file.
We haven’t collected a package or remote endpoint for this server. Follow the instructions in the project README.
Tools
Local servers expose tools only once running on your machine, and the maintainer has not provided a tool list.
Details
From the project READMEHyperIndex MCP Server in ReScript
This is a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server implementation written in ReScript. It demonstrates best practices for:
- Server initialization and configuration
- Tool registration and management
- Error handling and logging
- Resource cleanup
Prerequisites
- Node.js 18+
- pnpm, npm, or yarn
Getting Started
-
Install dependencies:
pnpm install # or npm install # or yarn install -
Build the ReScript files:
pnpm res:build # or npm run res:build # or yarn res:build -
Start the server:
pnpm start # or npm start # or yarn start
Development
For development with automatic rebuilding and the MCP inspector:
pnpm dev
# or
npm run dev
# or
yarn dev

Adding New Tools
To add a new tool, follow the pattern in the example files:
- Define a schema using rescript schema
- Implement the tool handler function
- Register the tool with the server in
Index.res

New to MCP?
From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.
An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
