About MCP Server Go
MCP Server Go is a minimal MCP server implementation in Go that communicates over stdio using JSON-RPC 2.0. It supports core resource and tool operations for clients that need a small server foundation.
Key features
- 01Communicate over stdio with JSON-RPC 2.0
- 02Initialize MCP connections
- 03List and read resources
- 04List and call tools
- 05Configure server name and version with environment variables
Use cases
- 01Building a Go-based MCP server
- 02Serving resources to MCP clients
- 03Exposing callable tools
- 04Testing basic MCP resource and tool operations
MCP support
Implements MCP version 2024-11-05 over stdio. It exposes initialization, resource listing and reading, and tool listing and calling.
Configuration
Local server config is the same for every client. Copy it into your client’s MCP config file.
We haven’t collected a package or remote endpoint for this server. Follow the instructions in the project README.
Tools
Local servers expose tools only once running on your machine, and the maintainer has not provided a tool list.

New to MCP?
From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.
An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
