π AI Sticky Notes β MCP Project
LocalAbout π AI Sticky Notes β MCP Project
A Python MCP server for managing sticky notes stored in a local file, intended for use with Claude Desktop. Its tools, resource, and prompt cover note editing, retrieval, and summarization.
Key features
- 01Add and read notes
- 02Clear all saved notes
- 03Retrieve the latest note
- 04Generate a note-summary prompt
- 05Store notes in local notes.txt
Use cases
- 01Saving notes through Claude Desktop
- 02Reviewing all stored notes
- 03Retrieving the most recent note
- 04Summarizing the current notes
MCP support
Exposes note-management tools, a latest-note resource, and a summary prompt to MCP clients such as Claude Desktop.
Configuration
Local server config is the same for every client. Copy it into your clientβs MCP config file.
We havenβt collected a package or remote endpoint for this server. Follow the instructions in the project README.
Tools
Local servers expose tools only once running on your machine, and the maintainer has not provided a tool list.
Details
From the project READMEπ AI Sticky Notes β MCP Project
This project is a simple and functional application that uses the MCP (Model Context Protocol) to create a sticky notes system powered by AI. It leverages FastMCP, the mcp[cli] interface, and integrates with Claude Desktop.
π Features
- Add new notes
- Read all existing notes
- Remove all notes
- Retrieve the latest note
- Generate a prompt to summarize all notes
π§° Technologies Used
- Python
- FastMCP
uvfor environment management- Claude Desktop for execution with tools, resources, and prompts
π οΈ Setup and Usage
1. Create and initialize the MCP environment
uv install
uv init project-folder-name
cd project-folder-name
uv add "mcp[cli]"
2. Install and use Claude Desktop
- Download and install Claude Desktop
- Run and interact with the defined tools, resources, and prompts
π File Overview
main.py
This file contains all the tools and logic to manage notes using the MCP framework.
π§ Tools
add_note(message: str) -> str
Appends a new note to the notes.txt file.
read_notes() -> str
Returns all saved notes. If no notes exist, returns a default message.
remove_notes() -> str
Clears all notes in the notes.txt file.
π Resource
get_latest_note() -> str
Returns the most recently added note.
π¬ Prompt
note_summary_prompt() -> str
Generates a prompt asking the AI to summarize all current notes.
π Notes File
All notes are stored in a local notes.txt file, which is automatically created if it doesn't exist.
β Requirements
- Python 3.10+
uvinstalled- Claude Desktop installed
π§ Inspiration
This project demonstrates how to use MCP to build intelligent agents that interact with local files and structured data. Itβs easily extendable with new functionalities.
Comments
New to MCP?
From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.
An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
