Multimodal Model Context Protocal Server
LocalAbout Multimodal Model Context Protocal Server
This repository is an unmaintained Pixeltable MCP server prototype, retained for reference and superseded by a maintained project. The current project exposes Pixeltable catalog, AI/ML pipeline, setup, scaffolding, and Python REPL capabilities to MCP clients.
Key features
- 01Repository marked unmaintained
- 02Original Docker Compose prototype retained
- 03Maintained successor identified
- 04Successor covers catalog and AI/ML pipelines
Use cases
- 01Find the maintained Pixeltable server
- 02Review the legacy prototype
- 03Connect Pixeltable capabilities to MCP clients
MCP support
The legacy repository contains an older prototype with separate audio, video, image, and document index servers. Its successor is the maintained Pixeltable MCP server, which exposes tools, resources, and prompts to MCP clients.
Configuration
Local server config is the same for every client. Copy it into your client’s MCP config file.
We haven’t collected a package or remote endpoint for this server. Follow the instructions in the project README.
Tools
Local servers expose tools only once running on your machine, and the maintainer has not provided a tool list.
Details
From the project READMEPixeltable MCP Server (moved)
This repository is no longer maintained. The Pixeltable MCP server now lives at pixeltable/mcp-server-pixeltable-developer.
That is the server to install if you want Pixeltable available to Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Cursor, or any other MCP client: 35 tools, 13 resources, and 11 prompts covering catalog management, AI/ML pipelines, dependency installation, project scaffolding, and a persistent Python REPL.
Install the maintained server
Requires uv:
uv tool install --from git+https://github.com/pixeltable/mcp-server-pixeltable-developer.git mcp-server-pixeltable-developer
claude mcp add pixeltable mcp-server-pixeltable-developer # Claude Code
Claude Desktop, Cursor, and from-source configuration are covered in the new repository's README.
File issues and feature requests at mcp-server-pixeltable-developer/issues.
What used to be here
servers/ still holds the original Docker Compose prototype: four separate index servers for
audio, video, images, and documents, plus a base SDK server. It is kept for reference only. It
targets an older Pixeltable release, receives no updates, and is superseded by the single
server above.
Original instructions
pip install pixeltable
git clone https://github.com/pixeltable/pixeltable-mcp-server.git
cd pixeltable-mcp-server/servers
docker-compose up --build # audio 8080, video 8081, image 8082, doc 8083
docker-compose down

New to MCP?
From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.
An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
