Key features

  1. 01Rust MCP server exploration
  2. 02Build server binaries with build.sh
  3. 03Claude Desktop configuration

Use cases

  1. 01Study a Rust MCP server implementation
  2. 02Connect the server through Claude Desktop

MCP support

It implements an MCP server based on the March 26, 2025 specification. The README shows configuration for Claude Desktop.

Configuration

Local server config is the same for every client. Copy it into your client’s MCP config file.

To use this server with Claude Desktop, add the executable path to your Claude Desktop configuration:

{
    "mcpServers": {
        "rust_math_server": {
            "command": "$PATH/TO/mcp-server-rs-exploration/bin/stdio",
                "args": []
        }
    }

From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.

An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
