MCP Server TypeScript Template
LocalAbout MCP Server TypeScript Template
A TypeScript template for building MCP servers, aimed at developers who need a starting point with custom tools. It includes example and addition operations.
Key features
- 01TypeScript MCP server scaffold
- 02Example operation tool
- 03Two-number addition tool
- 04Build and test commands
Use cases
- 01Starting a TypeScript MCP server project
- 02Trying custom tool implementations
- 03Testing an addition tool
MCP support
Implements an MCP server using the Model Context Protocol SDK and exposes example and addition tools to MCP clients.
Configuration
Local server config is the same for every client. Copy it into your client’s MCP config file.
We haven’t collected a package or remote endpoint for this server. Follow the instructions in the project README.
Tools
Local servers expose tools only once running on your machine, and the maintainer has not provided a tool list.
Details
From the project READMEMCP Server TypeScript Template
A template for creating Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers using TypeScript. This project demonstrates how to implement a simple MCP server with custom tools.
Overview
This template implements a basic MCP server that provides tools for:
- Example operation: A simple demonstration operation
- Addition: A tool that adds two numbers
The server uses the Model Context Protocol SDK to handle communication between AI models and external tools.
Prerequisites
- Node.js (v16 or higher)
- npm or yarn

Comments
New to MCP?
From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.
An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
