Template project to build MCP server using SpringBoot
LocalAbout Template project to build MCP server using SpringBoot
This is a SpringBoot template for developers building MCP servers. It provides REST endpoints for testing features outside an MCP client and a `task` example showing tool and resource implementation with tests.
Key features
- 01Test features through REST endpoints
- 02Includes a `task` example
- 03Demonstrates tools and resources
- 04Includes unit and integration tests
Use cases
- 01Start a SpringBoot MCP server from a template
- 02Test features outside an MCP client
- 03Extend tools and resources from the `task` example
- 04Write tests for server features
MCP support
The project is a template for building MCP servers and shows how to configure one in an MCP client.
Configuration
Local server config is the same for every client. Copy it into your client’s MCP config file.
We haven’t collected a package or remote endpoint for this server. Follow the instructions in the project README.
Tools
Local servers expose tools only once running on your machine, and the maintainer has not provided a tool list.

From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.
An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
