About MCP Server (Go)
MCP Server (Go) is a Go implementation that lets clients query a SQLite database through JSON-RPC. It provides query and table-listing tools, with SSE communication and token-based authentication.
Key features
- 01Query SQLite with SQL
- 02List database tables
- 03JSON-RPC 2.0 interface
- 04SSE communication
- 05Token-based authentication
Use cases
- 01Run SQL queries against a SQLite database
- 02Inspect tables available in the database
MCP support
It exposes query and table-listing tools to MCP clients through JSON-RPC, with SSE for communication.
Configuration
Local server config is the same for every client. Copy it into your client’s MCP config file.
We haven’t collected a package or remote endpoint for this server. Follow the instructions in the project README.
Tools
Local servers expose tools only once running on your machine, and the maintainer has not provided a tool list.
Details
From the project READMEMCP Server (Go)
A Go implementation of a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that provides database querying capabilities through a JSON-RPC interface.
Features
- JSON-RPC 2.0 protocol implementation
- Server-Sent Events (SSE) for real-time communication
- SQLite database integration
- Tool-based architecture for extensible functionality
- Authentication support
Available Tools
-
Query Tool
- Execute SQL queries against the database
- Returns results in tabular format
-
List Tables Tool
- List all available tables in the database
Getting Started
Prerequisites
- Go 1.x
- SQLite3
Installation
- Clone the repository:
git clone <repository-url>
cd mcp_server_go
- Install dependencies:
go mod download
Configuration
The server uses a simple token-based authentication system. The expected token is hardcoded as "abcd" in the server configuration.
Running the Server
go run main.go
The server will start on port 8777.
API Documentation
Authentication
All requests must include an Authorization header with the format:
Authorization: Bearer <token>
Endpoints
1. Root Endpoint (/)
- Method: GET
- Purpose: Establishes a Server-Sent Events (SSE) connection
- Response: Returns an endpoint URL for message communication
2. Messages Endpoint (/messages/{sessionID})
- Method: POST
- Purpose: Handle client requests
- Supported Methods:
initialize: Initialize the connectiontools/list: List available toolstools/call: Execute a specific tool
Example Usage
- Initialize connection:
{
"jsonrpc": "2.0",
"id": 1,
"method": "initialize",
"params": {}
}
- List available tools:
{
"jsonrpc": "2.0",
"id": 2,
"method": "tools/list",
"params": {}
}
- Execute a query:
{
"jsonrpc": "2.0",
"id": 3,
"method": "tools/call",
"params": {
"name": "query",
"arguments": {
"query": "SELECT * FROM your_table"
}
}
}

From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.
An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
