About MCP Server for NASA API integration.

A demo MCP server that retrieves NASA Near Earth Object data for a date range. It is intended for LLM users who want to request NEO information through an MCP client.

Key features

  1. 01Retrieve Near Earth Object data by date range
  2. 02Expose the getNeo tool
  3. 03Configure an API key in apiconfig.py

Use cases

  1. 01Retrieve NEO information for a chosen date range
  2. 02Let an LLM request NASA NEO data through MCP

MCP support

The server exposes the getNeo tool to MCP clients for NASA NEO queries. It requires an API key configured in apiconfig.py.

Configuration

Local server config is the same for every client. Copy it into your client’s MCP config file.

No install method listed yet

We haven’t collected a package or remote endpoint for this server. Follow the instructions in the project README.

From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.

An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
