About MCPM CLI
MCPM CLI is a command-line tool for managing MCP servers in the Claude App. It can add, remove, enable, disable and list servers, and it can search for MCP packages. It suits developers who often change their MCP server configuration.
Key features
- 01Adds, removes and lists MCP servers
- 02Enables or disables servers without removing them
- 03Interactive prompts for configuration
- 04Searches and installs MCP packages
- 05Runs MCPM itself as an MCP server
Use cases
- 01Managing several MCP servers in the Claude App
- 02Temporarily disabling a server and re-enabling it later
MCP support
The tool edits the Claude App configuration to manage servers. It can also start MCPM as an MCP server with the mcpm mcp command, and add itself as a server with mcpm add --self.
Configuration
Local server config is the same for every client. Copy it into your client’s MCP config file.
We haven’t collected a package or remote endpoint for this server. Follow the instructions in the project README.
Tools
Local servers expose tools only once running on your machine, and the maintainer has not provided a tool list.

New to MCP?
From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.
An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
