About mcprouter
mcprouter is an API router for MCP servers, described as OpenRouter for MCP servers. It runs in proxy mode or API mode and is aimed at developers who want to route MCP server access through one endpoint. It is configured through a TOML file and written in Go.
Key features
- 01SSE proxy forwarding to configured MCP servers
- 02HTTP API for listing tools
- 03Server commands defined in a TOML config
- 04Go implementation with TOML configuration
Use cases
- 01Connecting an MCP client such as Cursor through the proxy URL
- 02Querying available tools over HTTP with curl
MCP support
The project runs as an MCP proxy that forwards SSE connections from MCP clients to the servers defined under mcp_server_commands.
Configuration
Local server config is the same for every client. Copy it into your client’s MCP config file.
We haven’t collected a package or remote endpoint for this server. Follow the instructions in the project README.
Tools
Local servers expose tools only once running on your machine, and the maintainer has not provided a tool list.

An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
