- Many clients - Interact via PWA, API, SMS, XMPP and WhatsApp
- Integrations - Connect your google mail, calendar and more
- Tools included - Comes with 30+ built-in tools (may require API keys)
Navigation
A bit about the navigation
- Home - overview and exploration. Also includes a feed
- Inbox - single place for all interaction and notifications
- Agents - chat or create new agents with your own instructions
- Services - interact with the tools the agents have access to
Home
A place to view and do things e.g prompt, see what's happening, etc. Includes a Feed tab news and world events.
Inbox
Connect from various places and it all goes in one inbox.
| Protocol | Info |
|---|---|
| HTTP | Start a conversation or reopen one from Inbox. |
| SMTP | Send a message to agent@your-domain from your verified email address |
| SMS | Verify your phone number in Account, then text the configured number. |
| XMPP | Connect with your account and a Chat token from Client access, then message the agent. |
| Like SMS use a verified phone number to message agents and interact. |
Agents
Micro is the default agent. Agents have instructions and a set of tools. Services provide those tools: mail, files, calendar, search, weather, notes, shell, and more. You ask for an outcome; the agent chooses the tools.
Services
Complete standalone services that agents can use as tools or you can browse with. For example a complete Mail client and server. Web search via brave. News aggregation, headlines and summary via RSS. Video search via YouTube. All behind one MCP interface.
Install
curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/micro/mu/main/install.sh | sh
~/.local/bin/mu --serve --address 127.0.0.1:8080
See Install Micro for the quick start.
Optional documentation covers hosting, configuration, mail and development.
Web
Open http://localhost:8080 to create your account and choose an AI provider.
The web app can be installed on desktop or mobile as a progressive web app (PWA).
CLI
The binary acts as a client. It defaults to the hosted instance; set
MU_URL or use mu login https://your.host for your own server.
mu ask "What needs my attention?"
mu inbox list
mu help
API
curl "$MU_URL/agent" \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $MU_TOKEN" \
-H 'Content-Type: application/json' \
-d '{"prompt":"What needs my attention?"}'
The response includes text and thread; send the thread identifier
back to continue. Requests and credentials belong in request bodies and headers.
A separately configured x402 host provides paid service calls.

New to MCP?
From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.
An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
