About Multi MCP
Multi MCP is an MCP server that proxies multiple MCP servers for setups that need to bring their configurations together. It supports SSE, streamable HTTP, and stdio transports, with optional namespaces for tools and resources.
Key features
- 01Proxy multiple MCP servers
- 02SSE, streamable HTTP, and stdio transports
- 03Load MCP settings from a config file
- 04Optional namespaces for tools and resources
- 05Optional token authentication
Use cases
- 01Access multiple MCP servers through one entry point
- 02Connect configured servers to a proxy
- 03Offer MCP connections through different transports
- 04Require a token for proxy access
MCP support
Multi MCP proxies configured MCP servers and makes them available to MCP clients over SSE, streamable HTTP, or stdio.
Configuration
Local server config is the same for every client. Copy it into your client’s MCP config file.
We haven’t collected a package or remote endpoint for this server. Follow the instructions in the project README.
Tools
Local servers expose tools only once running on your machine, and the maintainer has not provided a tool list.

Getting Started
Clone and cd:
git clone https://github.com/One-MCP/multi-mcp.git
cd multi-mcp
Install dependencies:
uv venv
uv pip install -r requirements.txt
Start server:
hypercorn src.main:app
# hypercorn src.main:app --bind 0.0.0.0:7860
Then you can access the server via http://localhost:8080/sse (for SSE mode) or http://localhost:8080/mcp (for streamable HTTP mode).
Configuration
You can follows the VSCode Documentation#Configuration format to create the configuration JSON files, and there are also example files in the examples/config.
Environment Variables
| Variable Name | Default Value | Description |
|---|---|---|
AUTH_TOKEN | None | The authentication token, the server will not perform authentication if not set |
CONFIG | ./examples/config/mcp_tools.json | Path to the MCP configuration file |
ENCODING | utf-8 | The character encoding used for communication |
TRANSPORT | sse | The transport protocol for the server (one of stdio, sse, http) |
USE_NAMESPACE | True | Whether to use namespaces for tools/resources |
DEBUG | False | Enable or disable debug mode |
Authorization Header
This program uses either Authorization or X-MCP-Token HTTP headers for authentication.
For the Authorization header, it receives Bearer <Your-AUTH_TOKEN> while for the X-MCP-Token, it receives <Your-AUTH_TOKEN>.

From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.
An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
