About stox-mcp

stox-mcp provides derived metrics and market context for US stocks to AI clients. It emphasizes cohort percentiles, curated peers, co-movement clusters, and market-stress indicators rather than raw market data.

Key features

  1. 0116 percentile scores across four panels
  2. 02Side-by-side comparison of 2–5 tickers
  3. 03Curated competitive peers
  4. 04Price co-movement clusters
  5. 05Metric-based stock screening
  6. 06Market-stress indicators and context

Use cases

  1. 01Assess a stock against its S&P 500 cohort
  2. 02Compare metrics across several tickers
  3. 03Find competitors or stocks moving together
  4. 04Screen for momentum or fallen leaders
  5. 05Review market stress alongside stock metrics

MCP support

The MCP server exposes stock fingerprints, comparisons, peer and theme analysis, metric screening, and market-regime context as tools for MCP clients. Its endpoint supports streamable HTTP.

Configuration

Remote servers need no local install. Pick your client, then copy the config or install in one click.

Endpointhttps://mcp.stox.market/mcp
Copy install command
Claude CodeTerminal
Cursor.cursor/mcp.json
VS Code.vscode/mcp.json
Claude Desktopclaude_desktop_config.json
Windsurf~/.codeium/windsurf/mcp_config.json

Run commands in a terminal; paste JSON into the client’s MCP config and restart. Servers that need sign-in will prompt on first connect.

stox-mcp

Give your AI the numbers that matter. An MCP server over the stox.market metric layer — context, not data: every finance feed hands a model raw bars and statements, and the model still can't answer "is this number good?". This server ships the judgment layer instead.

Tools

toolwhat it answers
fingerprintThe character of one stock: 16 percentile scores vs the S&P 500 cohort across four panels (Market Beat, Trend Persistence, Business Growth, Pressure), the P3 composite, curated peers, a one-line read. ~550 tokens.
compareThe 16-score matrix for 2–5 tickers, side by side.
peersTRUE competitive peers — curated from segment overlap, not GICS (Costco → WMT/TGT/KR, not "Discount Stores").
theme_clusterWho a stock moves with: co-movement clusters from price behavior (market-removed residuals → random-matrix cleaning → Ward linkage).
screenMin/max bounds on any of the 16 metrics — momentum and fallen-leader queries in one call — optionally per sector, sorted by the P3 composite or any single metric.
market_regimeMarket-stress stance, per-indicator bands, the VIX 5-yr percentile (the one input validated as predicting forward risk), and the S2 stress-confirmation badge.

Design

  • Token economy — compact JSON, score + band + a one-line read; a fingerprint is ~550 tokens where a statements dump is 20,000.
  • Percentiles, not raw numbers — every score is a cross-sectional rank against the real cohort (100 = best), so "is it good?" is answered by construction.
  • Provenance — snapshot dates on scores, links back to the full picture.
  • Informational only — descriptive statistics; never investment advice, no buy/sell recommendations. Derived metrics only; this is not a market-data feed.

The human-readable twin

The same metric layer renders as editorial leaderboards at stox.market/lists — 31 boards plus sector slices and frozen earnings-season editions, refreshed on automated weekly lanes. A board is where a name catches your eye; fingerprint is how your agent vets it in one call.

Universe: S&P 500 + NASDAQ-100 + curated ETFs. Coverage and metric definitions: stox.market.

New to MCP?

From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.

An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
