About nix-mcp-servers
nix-mcp-servers is a Nix flake repository that packages various MCP servers. Users can run servers directly with nix run or install them on NixOS or with home-manager.

MCP support
The repository packages runnable MCP servers, such as github-mcp-server, which runs in stdio mode.
Configuration
Local server config is the same for every client. Copy it into your client’s MCP config file.
We haven’t collected a package or remote endpoint for this server. Follow the instructions in the project README.
Tools
Local servers expose tools only once running on your machine, and the maintainer has not provided a tool list.

This is a repo to hold nix packages for various MCP servers.
Running MCP servers
MCP servers can be run directly from this flake.
Run github-mcp-server in stdio mode:
nix run github:cameronfyfe/nix-mcp-server#github-mcp-server -- stdio
Installing MCP servers
MCP servers can be installed on a NixOS system or with home-manager by referencing this flake.
Add the following to your flake.nix:
inputs.nix-mcp-servers.url = "github:cameronfyfe/nix-mcp-servers";
And add any mcp server packages to your environment.systemPackages or home.packages:
[
...
inputs.nix-mcp-servers.packages.${system}.github-mcp-server
...
]
