About Kinetik UI
Kinetik UI is a CLI for finding and adding animated Expo components to React Native projects. It copies TypeScript source into the project and also serves its registry to AI agents over MCP.
Key features
- 01Search components by name or category
- 02Add components and shared code
- 03List installed components and templates
- 04Compare local copies with registry
- 05Check project configuration and dependencies
- 06Serve the registry to AI agents
Use cases
- 01Find a motion component for an Expo screen
- 02Add registry components to a React Native project
- 03Check component changes against the registry
MCP support
The `mcp` command runs an MCP server over stdio that exposes registry tools for listing, searching, retrieving components, building install plans, and reading tokens.
Configuration
Local server config is the same for every client. Copy it into your client’s MCP config file.

Details
From the project READMEkinetik-ui
The CLI for Kinetik UI: motion and effect components for Expo, built on Reanimated 4, Gesture Handler and Skia.
Requires the React Native New Architecture. Expo SDK 54 or newer.
npx kinetik-ui init
npx kinetik-ui add glint-card deckfall
Components are copied into your project as TypeScript source, so you own them. Dependencies are installed with npx expo install, so native versions match your Expo SDK.
Commands
| Command | What it does |

search <query> | Find components by name, category or description |
diff [name...] | How your copies differ from the registry |
doctor | Checks the Expo SDK, New Architecture, Babel config, dependencies and files |
agents [--skill] | Adds Kinetik guidance for AI coding agents to AGENTS.md (and an Agent Skill) |
mcp | Serves the registry to AI agents over the Model Context Protocol (stdio) |
Options: --registry <url|dir>, --overwrite, --dry-run, --skip-install, --components-dir, --lib-dir, --json, --cwd. Run npx kinetik-ui --help for details.
Use with AI agents
Add the MCP server to your agent's configuration:
{ "mcpServers": { "kinetik-ui": { "command": "npx", "args": ["-y", "kinetik-ui", "mcp"] } } }

New to MCP?
From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.
An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
