Details

From the project README

pagefind-mcp

An MCP server for searching static sites that are indexed with pagefind

Usage

npx pagefind-mcp --host <base-url> [--no-resources]

--host sets the base site to index. Prefixing with http:// or https:// is optional; https is assumed when omitted. The --no-resources flag skips pushing full page resources and instead fetches each result page to provide a short, markup-free snippet.

From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.

An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
