PDI Bridge for Claude

Connect Claude Desktop to your ServiceNow PDI — query records, inspect Business Rules, review ACLs, and troubleshoot against your live instance.

Version License MCP

What it does

PDI Bridge is a local MCP server that gives Claude Desktop a live, authenticated connection to your ServiceNow Personal Developer Instance (PDI).

Instead of copying and pasting records into Claude, you can ask Claude to pull the data directly:

  • Query any table with encoded queries
  • Review Business Rules, ACLs, Client Scripts, and Script Includes
  • Get individual records by sys_id
  • Optionally create and update records (disabled by default)

Installation

PDI Bridge is available for macOS, Windows, and Linux.

👉 Get PDI Bridge on Gumroad

Includes:

  • Standalone executable (no Node.js required)
  • One-click browser setup wizard
  • Read + write tools
  • Full table access
  • Commercial license

Requirements

  • Claude Desktop (macOS, Windows, or Linux)
  • A ServiceNow PDI or non-production sandbox
  • Admin or security_admin role on the instance (for script inspection)

MCP Configuration

Add this to your claude_desktop_config.json:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "servicenow-pdi-bridge": {
      "command": "/path/to/pdi-bridge",
      "env": {

        "SN_USERNAME": "admin",
        "SN_PASSWORD": "your-password",
        "ENABLE_WRITE": "false"
      }
    }
  }
}

macOS config location: ~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json

Example Prompts

Exploring configuration:

  • "Show me all active Business Rules on the incident table"
  • "List the ACLs on the sys_user table, including field-level ones, and tell me which ones restrict read access"
  • "Get the IncidentUtils Script Include and explain what it does"

Troubleshooting:

  • "I'm getting an unexpected null on the caller field when an incident is created via the portal. Check the Business Rules and Client Scripts on the incident table and help me figure out why."
  • "A user with the itil role can't see certain incidents. Pull the ACLs on the incident table and help me understand why."

Data lookups:

  • "Query the 10 highest priority open incidents and summarize them"
  • "Find the sys_user record for [username] and tell me their roles"

New to MCP?

From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.

An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
