About mcp-bookmark
mcp-bookmark is an MCP server for saving URLs and searching bookmark collections with OpenAI's RAG capabilities. It is for users of MCP-compatible assistants who want to store bookmark metadata and retrieve items through semantic search.
Key features
- 01Save URLs with titles and descriptions
- 02Search bookmark titles and descriptions
- 03Semantic search with OpenAI RAG
- 04AI-assisted bookmark categorization
- 05Connect to multiple MCP platforms
Use cases
- 01Save a webpage with its title and notes
- 02Find saved links by topic or query
- 03Use an MCP-compatible assistant to manage bookmarks
MCP support
The server exposes save_bookmark and search_bookmarks tools to MCP clients. It supports configuration for several MCP-compatible hosts, including Claude Desktop, Cursor, Windsurf, Zed, and Continue.
Configuration
Local server config is the same for every client. Copy it into your client’s MCP config file.
Tools
Local servers expose tools only once running on your machine, and the maintainer has not provided a tool list.

New to MCP?
From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.
An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
