About Beacon - verified-merchant index for AI shopping agents

Beacon is an installable agent skill for AI shopping agents to find verified merchants, with a focus on regulated and age-gated commerce, starting with alcohol. Its results include evidence and provenance, and merchant ranking is not influenced by paid placement.

Key features

  1. 01Find verified merchants for shopping agents
  2. 02Evidence and provenance for results
  3. 03Rankings exclude paid placement
  4. 04License data from Florida public records
  5. 05Age and jurisdiction checks fail safe

Use cases

  1. 01Find merchants for regulated-product purchases
  2. 02Check whether a merchant can ship to a jurisdiction
  3. 03Audit evidence behind merchant results

MCP support

Beacon exposes its merchant index through an MCP endpoint for agents; a REST fallback is also available.

Configuration

Remote servers need no local install. Pick your client, then copy the config or install in one click.

Beacon skill

The installable agent skill for Beacon — the neutral, verified-merchant index AI shopping agents query to find merchants they can safely and legally buy from, specializing in regulated/age-gated commerce (alcohol first).

npx skills add primoliquors/beacon-skill

Works across 70+ agents via the skills CLI.

What agents get

SurfaceWhere
MCP (preferred)https://beacon-index.onrender.com/mcp — registry name io.github.primoliquors/beacon
REST fallbackhttps://beacon-index.onrender.com/agent/*
Discovery manifesthttps://beacon-index.onrender.com/.well-known/beacon (trust_class=regulated)

Why Beacon is different

  • Earned trust only. Paid placement never moves rank — enforced in code and regression-tested, and every ranking response says so (ranking_basis).
  • Evidence on every fact. Results carry provenance an agent can audit.
  • Real compliance, not self-declaration. Merchant license attestations come from the State of Florida's daily public records (DBPR/AB&T); age-gate and jurisdiction rules fail safe (illegal ship-to returns zero, not a guess).
  • No shopper data. Beacon stores no shopper-level identity, ever.

The skill definition lives in SKILL.md.

New to MCP?

From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.

An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
