About ProdSync MCP Server
ProdSync MCP Server exposes Datadog logs to developers using Claude Desktop or Cursor. Queries can filter logs by service, severity, and environment, bringing production context into their workflow.
Key features
- 01Query Datadog logs
- 02Filter by service, severity, and environment
- 03Read API keys from environment variables
- 04Write debug logs to a file
Use cases
- 01Inspect production errors by service
- 02Compare logs across environments
- 03Review warnings and informational entries
- 04Troubleshoot server behavior using debug logs
MCP support
An MCP server that exposes filtered Datadog log queries to MCP clients, including Claude Desktop and Cursor.
Configuration
Local server config is the same for every client. Copy it into your client’s MCP config file.
We haven’t collected a package or remote endpoint for this server. Follow the instructions in the project README.
Tools
Local servers expose tools only once running on your machine, and the maintainer has not provided a tool list.
Details
From the project READMEProdSync MCP Server
A custom Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that enables real-time access to Datadog logs filtered by service, severity, and environment. This server is designed to integrate with Claude Desktop and Cursor IDE, providing developers with production context directly in their workflow.
Features
- Query Datadog logs by service, severity (Error, Warn, Info), and environment (int, personal-dev, dev, prod)
- Securely uses Datadog API and APP keys from environment variables
- Debug logging to file for troubleshooting
Development
1. Install dependencies
npm install
2. Build the server
npm run build
3. Run in development mode (auto-rebuild)
npm run watch
4. Debugging
Debug logs are written to logs/debug.log.
5. MCP Inspector
To inspect and debug the MCP protocol:
npm run inspector
Configuration to run locally
Environment Variables
Create a .env file or export these variables in your shell:
DATADOG_API_KEY=<your_datadog_api_key>
DATADOG_APP_KEY=<your_datadog_app_key>
Integration with IDEs and AI chat applications
Add or update the MCP server section like below in respective json file location based on your setup:
For local development (after executing "npm run build" atleast once on the project workspace):
{
"mcpServers": {
"prodsync-mcp": {
"command": "node",
"args": [
"/path/to/workspace/prodsync-mcp-server/build/index.js"
],
"env": {
"DATADOG_API_KEY": "<your_datadog_api_key>",
"DATADOG_APP_KEY": "<your_datadog_app_key>"
}
}
}
}
Claude Desktop
For MacOS, edit the config file at:
~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json
Cursor IDE
For MacOS, edit the config file at:
~/.cursor/mcp.json
For any issues, check logs/debug.log for troubleshooting information.

New to MCP?
From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.
An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
