About systemdox-runbooks

Your runbooks as agent tools: scripts from runbooks.json served as typed, allowlisted MCP tools

Configuration

Local server config is the same for every client. Copy it into your client’s MCP config file.

mcp.json · Universal config
{
"mcpServers": {
"puglieseweb-systemdox-runbooks": {
"command": "npx",
"args": [
"-y",
"@systemdox/runbook-mcp"
],
"env": {
"RUNBOOK_MCP_MANIFEST": "<RUNBOOK_MCP_MANIFEST>",
"RUNBOOK_MCP_DRY_RUN": "<RUNBOOK_MCP_DRY_RUN>"
}
}
}
}
Run commandnpx -y @systemdox/runbook-mcp
Environment variables to set
RUNBOOK_MCP_MANIFESTPath to the runbooks.json manifest (alternative to the --manifest argument). Defaults to ./runbooks.json.
RUNBOOK_MCP_DRY_RUNSet to 1 to have every tool report the command it would run instead of running it.

Local servers need a runtime on your machine (e.g. Node.js 18+). Config file locations differ by client; see your client’s docs.

Packages
npm@systemdox/runbook-mcp0.1.5

New to MCP?

From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.

An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
