About raras
raras exposes a Brazil-focused rare-disease knowledge graph to MCP clients. Its disease records connect genes, phenotypes, SUS coverage, trials, literature-derived treatments, and repurposing hypotheses, with source-grounded reasoning in Brazilian Portuguese; it does not diagnose.
Key features
- 01Explore 10,468 rare diseases
- 02Access addressable Disease Twin records
- 03Review genes and HPO phenotypes
- 04Find SUS coverage and clinical trials
- 05Inspect literature-derived treatments and hypotheses
- 06Use source-grounded multi-hop reasoning
Use cases
- 01Explore information about a rare disease
- 02Review SUS coverage and relevant clinical trials
- 03Examine literature-derived treatment hypotheses
MCP support
The public, read-only MCP server exposes the rare-disease knowledge graph through Streamable HTTP. MCP clients can access disease records and related data and reasoning.
Configuration
Remote servers need no local install. Pick your client, then copy the config or install in one click.

Details
From the project READMERaras Disease Twin — MCP Server
Brazilian rare-disease knowledge graph (10,468 diseases) exposed via the Model Context Protocol (MCP).
Each disease is an addressable Disease Twin (disease://{orphaCode}): genes, HPO phenotypes, SUS coverage,
clinical trials, literature-mined treatments, repurposing hypotheses, and grounded multi-hop reasoning — PT-BR
first, source-grounded, never diagnoses.

New to MCP?
From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.
An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
