About Redis MCP Server
Redis MCP server built with Spring Boot and Spring AI for applications that need MCP access to Redis. It provides key-value operations, pattern-based listing, and optional expiration over SSE.
Key features
- 01Set and get key-value pairs
- 02Delete one or more keys
- 03List keys by pattern
- 04Set optional key expiration
- 05SSE-based MCP connection
Use cases
- 01Read and update Redis values through an MCP client
- 02Remove selected Redis keys
- 03Find keys matching a pattern
MCP support
Exposes Redis set, get, delete, and pattern-based list operations as MCP tools. It uses Server-Sent Events (SSE) for MCP communication.
Configuration
Local server config is the same for every client. Copy it into your client’s MCP config file.
We haven’t collected a package or remote endpoint for this server. Follow the instructions in the project README.
Tools
Local servers expose tools only once running on your machine, and the maintainer has not provided a tool list.
Details
From the project READMERedis MCP Server
A Redis Management and Control Protocol (MCP) server implementation using Spring Boot and Spring AI.
Description
This project implements a Redis MCP server that provides a set of tools for Redis operations. It uses spring-ai-mcp-server-webmvc-spring-boot-starter to implement MCP Server-Sent Events (SSE) functionality.
Prerequisites
- JDK 17 or higher
- Maven 3.6 or higher
- Redis server
Components
- Spring Boot
- Spring AI
- Spring Data Redis
- Lettuce Redis Client
- Jackson
- spring-ai-mcp-server-webmvc-spring-boot-starter
Features
- Redis key-value operations (set, get, delete)
- Pattern-based key listing
- Optional key expiration time
- SSE-based MCP implementation
Configuration
Server Configuration
The Redis connection can be configured using the redis.url system property. Default value is redis://localhost:6379.
Example:
java -Dredis.url=redis://your-redis-host:6379 -jar your-app.jar
Cursor Tool Configuration
To use this MCP server in Cursor, add the following configuration to your Cursor settings:
{
"redis-mcp-server": {
"url": "http://localhost:8080/sse",
"enabled": true
}
}
Building
mvn clean package
Running
java -jar target/redis-mcp-server-{version}.jar
API Endpoints
The server exposes the following MCP tools:
set: Set a Redis key-value pair with optional expiration timeget: Get value from Redis by keydelete: Delete one or multiple keys from Redislist: List Redis keys matching a pattern

New to MCP?
From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.
An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
