About pressready

PressReady converts Markdown chapters, metadata, and a cover image into publication files for Amazon KDP. Authors can generate a Kindle EPUB, print interior and wrap-cover PDFs, plus a JSON upload checklist; it creates files but does not log in to KDP.

Key features

  1. 01Generate Kindle EPUB 3
  2. 02Create trim-size print interior PDF
  3. 03Create wrap-cover PDF with computed spine
  4. 04Produce a JSON upload checklist
  5. 05Build books through CLI or MCP

Use cases

  1. 01Prepare a Markdown manuscript for KDP
  2. 02Generate print files for a chosen trim size
  3. 03Calculate paperback cover spine width
  4. 04Check KDP upload values before publishing

MCP support

Provides the build_book, spine_width, and list_trim_sizes tools to MCP clients for book generation and print-layout information.

Configuration

Local server config is the same for every client. Copy it into your client’s MCP config file.

mcp.json · Universal config
{
"mcpServers": {
"ridhwaan-ai-pressready": {
"command": "uvx",
"args": [
"pressready"
]
}
}
}
Run commanduvx pressready

Local servers need a runtime on your machine (e.g. Node.js 18+). Config file locations differ by client; see your client’s docs.

PressReady

Manuscript in, publish-ready book out. Give it Markdown chapters, metadata and a front-cover image. It returns:

  1. Kindle EPUB 3 (cover embedded, TOC, front/back matter)
  2. Print interior PDF at the requested trim size (5x8, 5.5x8.5, 6x9, 8.5x11)
  3. Full-wrap paperback cover PDF (spine width computed from page count and paper type)
  4. Upload checklist (JSON) with the values KDP asks for

Install: pip install pressready (or run without installing: uvx pressready mcp). Live API: https://pressready-wp38.onrender.com (agent docs: /llms.txt; pricing: /v1/pricing). Free tier: 3 builds a day per client; unlimited with a license key. The free host sleeps when idle, so the first request can take about a minute.

pip install pressready
pressready build manuscript/ --trim 5.5x8.5 --paper cream

MCP server

uvx pressready mcp

MCP client config:

{"mcpServers": {"pressready": {"command": "uvx", "args": ["pressready", "mcp"]}}}

  • GET /openapi.json: OpenAPI spec
  • GET /health: health check

Notes

PressReady produces files; it never logs in to KDP or any other site. Check the output in KDP's previewer before publishing. Output is generated by software; disclose AI use in KDP where its rules require it.

New to MCP?

From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.

An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
