About Rootdata MCP Server
Rootdata MCP Server is a small Python experiment that fetches Web3 project details from Rootdata for MCP-compatible AI assistants. It provides one tool and is intended for learning and adding structured data to research workflows.
Key features
- 01Fetch Rootdata hot projects
- 02Return project names and descriptions
- 03Provide project links
- 04Run over standard input/output
Use cases
- 01Add project data to Web3 research
- 02Explore a minimal MCP tool
- 03Connect Rootdata page data to an AI assistant
MCP support
Exposes `get_rootdata_hot_projects` to MCP clients, returning project names, descriptions and links parsed from Rootdata pages. It runs in stdio mode.
Configuration
Local server config is the same for every client. Copy it into your client’s MCP config file.
We haven’t collected a package or remote endpoint for this server. Follow the instructions in the project README.
Tools
Local servers expose tools only once running on your machine, and the maintainer has not provided a tool list.
Details
From the project READMERootdata MCP Server
MCP tool
git clone https://github.com/yulai-123/rootdata_mcp_server.git
cd rootdata_mcp_server
pip install -e .
# 或使用 uv
uv pip install -e .
python main.py
Tool
get_rootdata_hot_projects() -> list[dict[str, str]]
namedescriptionlink
python /path/to/rootdata_mcp_server/main.py

New to MCP?
From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.
An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
