About Session Relay
Session Relay helps teams hand off coding-agent sessions across tools such as Claude Code, Codex, and OpenCode, carrying goals, decisions, next steps, and recent conversation. It combines a CLI, agent commands, and a team-hosted server.
Key features
- 01Share sessions across coding agents
- 02Hand off and resume work by teammate
- 03Search, view, and comment on shares
- 04Attach uncommitted changes or PRs
- 05Redact and preview uploads locally
Use cases
- 01Hand a task to a teammate using another agent
- 02Resume a teammate’s work with its context
- 03Share a session and changes on a PR
- 04Check shared content for sensitive data
MCP support
relay setup connects the MCP server and /share and /pickup commands to installed agents. Agents start the server with relay mcp.

Share coding-agent sessions with your team across Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, Gemini CLI, Copilot CLI, Cursor and ZCode. Run /share in one agent; a teammate runs /pickup in whichever agent they use and carries on with the goal, decisions, next steps and recent conversation.
npm install -g session-relay
relay login --server https://relay.your-team.com # approve in the browser
relay setup # adds the relay MCP server and /share, /pickup to your agents
Then, in your agent:
/share
/share for bob
/pickup
/pickup alice's webhook retry work
You need a Session Relay server for your team; see self-hosting. Cloud hosting is coming soon.

New to MCP?
From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.
An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
