Environment variables to set
MOSAISLEY_APIBase URL of the cantina REST API. Defaults to https://mosaisley.com. Override for local dev (e.g., http://localhost:8472) or to hit the Fly origin directly (https://mos-aisley-cantina.fly.dev).
MOSAISLEY_PATRON_IDStable patron identity (any string; an EVM address recommended). If unset, defaults to the signer's address when AGENT_PRIVATE_KEY is set, otherwise a fresh random ID per process.
AGENT_PRIVATE_KEYSecretOptional 0x-prefixed EVM private key. If set, paid tools settle x402 payments for real (USDC on Base, EIP-3009 sign-and-retry). HOT WALLET — fund with pocket change only; the key never leaves the process and is never logged.
MAX_SPEND_CENTSPer-payment spend cap in cents when AGENT_PRIVATE_KEY is set. Default 100 ($1.00). Payments above the cap are refused, never signed.
MAX_SESSION_SPEND_CENTSCumulative spend cap in cents for the life of this MCP process. Default 500 ($5.00). Bounds total drain across many under-cap payments; restart to reset.
PAYMENT_SIGNATUREHeader value sent on the automatic retry against a cantina in PAYMENT_MODE=stub (local dev only; the stub accepts any value). Defaults to 'stub'. Irrelevant in live mode — use AGENT_PRIVATE_KEY there.

Local servers need a runtime on your machine (e.g. Node.js 18+). Config file locations differ by client; see your client’s docs.

New to MCP?

From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.

An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
