About Base Intel MCP

Base Intel MCP provides read-only, live on-chain information for AI agents working with Base. It covers addresses, ERC-20 tokens, gas prices, and transaction status through public RPC, without requiring API keys.

Key features

  1. 01Report ETH and USDC address balances
  2. 02Read ERC-20 token metadata and balances
  3. 03Check current Base gas price
  4. 04Inspect transaction status and details
  5. 05Use public RPC without API keys

Use cases

  1. 01Summarize a Base wallet's holdings
  2. 02Identify a token and check its supply
  3. 03Check whether a Base transaction succeeded

MCP support

The MCP server exposes read-only Base network tools for address reports, token data, gas prices, and transaction status. It can be accessed through a hosted endpoint by MCP clients.

Configuration

Remote servers need no local install. Pick your client, then copy the config or install in one click.

Copy install command
Claude CodeTerminal
Cursor.cursor/mcp.json
VS Code.vscode/mcp.json
Claude Desktopclaude_desktop_config.json
Windsurf~/.codeium/windsurf/mcp_config.json

Run commands in a terminal; paste JSON into the client’s MCP config and restart. Servers that need sign-in will prompt on first connect.

Base Intel MCP — by Datakoot

Read-only on-chain intelligence for AI agents on Base. No API keys.

Give an agent a Base address, token, or transaction hash and it reads balances, token metadata, gas, and transaction status live from chain.

Tools

ToolWhat it does
address_reportETH + USDC balance, tx count, and contract check for an address
token_infoERC-20 name, symbol, decimals, total supply
token_balanceAny ERC-20 balance for any holder (formatted + raw)
gas_nowCurrent Base gas price (gwei + wei)
tx_statusTransaction status, from/to, value, block, gas used

No API keys required. Data read live from Base mainnet public RPC (with fallbacks).

Quick start (hosted)

claude mcp add --transport http base-intel https://base.datakoot.com/mcp

Try it in 10 seconds — no key, no signup

Paste this into a terminal:

curl -s https://base.datakoot.com/mcp \
  -H 'content-type: application/json' \
  -H 'accept: application/json, text/event-stream' \
  -d '{"jsonrpc": "2.0", "id": 1, "method": "tools/call", "params": {"name": "gas_now", "arguments": {}}}'

You get the current gas price on the Base network — no API key, nothing to sign up for.

Or point any MCP client at the URL and just ask your agent, in plain language:

  • "What's gas on Base right now?"
  • "Summarize the token holdings of this Base wallet: 0x…"

Example agent workflows

  • "What is in wallet 0x... on Base?" -> address_report
  • "What token is 0x833589... and what is its supply?" -> token_info
  • "Did transaction 0x... succeed?" -> tx_status

New to MCP?

From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.

An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
