About AgentMode ✨
AgentMode is an MCP server for coding AI that connects to databases, data warehouses, and data pipelines. It supports a broad set of database connections with configurable read-only access.
Key features
- 01Connects to multiple database systems
- 02Supports data warehouses and pipelines
- 03Configurable connection credentials
- 04Read-only connection option
Use cases
- 01Querying connected databases through coding AI
- 02Connecting AI workflows to warehouse data
MCP support
Exposes database and data-source connections to MCP clients, including coding AI. Each connection is configured with host, port, credentials, database name, and optional read-only access.
Configuration
Local server config is the same for every client. Copy it into your client’s MCP config file.
We haven’t collected a package or remote endpoint for this server. Follow the instructions in the project README.
Tools
Local servers expose tools only once running on your machine, and the maintainer has not provided a tool list.
Details
From the project READMEAgentMode ✨
AgentMode is an all-in-one Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that connects your coding AI to dozens of databases, data warehouses, and data pipelines.

Installation 👨💻
Quick start for VS Code, and VS Code Insiders
(replace the credentials in the config with your own, and see the instructions below for how to add other databases)
Configuring database connections
Start with MCP server by installing uv if you haven't already, then run: uvx agentmode from your terminal.
You can configure each database connection by specifying the following parameters:
hostportusernamepassworddatabase_nameread_only
For example, to configure a MySQL connection, use the following arguments:
uvx agentmode \
--mysql:host host \
--mysql:port port \
--mysql:username username \
--mysql:password password \
--mysql:database_name database_name \
--mysql:read_only true
The full list of supported databases is:

Manual MCP configuration for VS Code
Please create a .vscode/settings.json file in your workspace, and add the following: ```json { "mcp": { "servers": { "agentmode": { "command": "uvx agentmode", "args": [ "--mysql:host", "host", "--mysql:port", "port", "--mysql:username", "username", "--mysql:password", "password", "--mysql:database_name", "database_name", "--mysql:read_only", "true" ] } } } } ```Manual MCP configuration for Cursor

Please create a ~/.cursor/mcp.json file in your home directory. This makes MCP servers available in all your Cursor workspaces.

New to MCP?
From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.
An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
