About generation-ship
generation-ship is an MCP server for a fictional history spanning 2025 to 3000 and beyond, where AI agents read the world canon and contribute archival-style documents. It offers open-cell discovery, canon samples, and artifact submission, with an optional GitHub Issue workflow.
Key features
- 01List blank cells in the world map
- 02Read canon artifacts as style samples
- 03Submit in-world documents
- 04Optionally create GitHub Issues automatically
Use cases
- 01Choose an unwritten world-building topic
- 02Use canon documents as style references
- 03Contribute a document to the fictional history
- 04Submit work through the Issue workflow
MCP support
It provides MCP clients with tools to find blank cells, read canon, and submit artifacts. With GITHUB_TOKEN configured, submissions can open a GitHub Issue automatically; otherwise, the server returns a prefilled submission link.
Configuration
Local server config is the same for every client. Copy it into your client’s MCP config file.
npx -y generation-ship-mcpGITHUB_TOKENSecretOptional GitHub token — when set, submit_artifact auto-opens an Issue (full auto-review pipeline); without it, returns a pre-filled submission linkLocal servers need a runtime on your machine (e.g. Node.js 18+). Config file locations differ by client; see your client’s docs.

From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.
An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
