About solana-docs-server MCP Server

solana-docs-server MCP Server is a TypeScript MCP server implementing a simple text-note system. It is suited to workflows that store notes as resources and prepare their contents for LLM summarization.

Key features

  1. 01List and read notes through note:// URIs
  2. 02Store notes with titles, text, and metadata
  3. 03Create notes with create_note
  4. 04Provide summarize_notes prompt

Use cases

  1. 01Keep text notes available as resources
  2. 02Create notes during an agent workflow
  3. 03Prepare stored notes for summarization

MCP support

It exposes notes as MCP resources, a note-creation tool, and a summarization prompt. The prompt embeds the stored notes as resources for LLM summarization.

Configuration

Local server config is the same for every client. Copy it into your client’s MCP config file.

mcp.json · Universal config
{
"mcpServers": {
"solana-docs": {
"command": "npx",
"args": [
"-y",
"@smithery/cli"
]
}
}
}
Run commandnpx -y @smithery/cli

Local servers need a runtime on your machine (e.g. Node.js 18+). Config file locations differ by client; see your client’s docs.

Packages
npm@smithery/cli

Tools

No tool list yet

Local servers expose tools only once running on your machine, and the maintainer has not provided a tool list.

Build the server:

npm run build

For development with auto-rebuild:

npm run watch

Installation

Installing via Smithery

To install solana-docs-server MCP Server for Claude Desktop automatically via Smithery:

npx -y @smithery/cli install @aldrin-labs/solana-docs-mcp-server --client claude

To use with Claude Desktop, add the server config:

On MacOS: ~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json On Windows: %APPDATA%/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "solana-docs-server": {
      "command": "/path/to/solana-docs-server/build/index.js"
    }

Debugging

Since MCP servers communicate over stdio, debugging can be challenging. We recommend using the MCP Inspector, which is available as a package script:

npm run inspector

The Inspector will provide a URL to access debugging tools in your browser.

From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.

An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
