About Solana MCP Server

Solana MCP Server is an MCP server that exposes Solana RPC methods so blockchain data can be queried through Cline using natural language. It suits users who need account, transaction, token or network information from Solana.

Key features

  1. 01Provides 21 Solana RPC methods
  2. 02Queries SOL and SPL token balances
  3. 03Retrieves block, transaction and slot information
  4. 04Reports epoch, supply and inflation rate data
  5. 05Configurable RPC endpoint via SOLANA_RPC_URL

Use cases

  1. 01Checking the SOL balance of an address in Cline
  2. 02Viewing the latest block or current slot
  3. 03Listing token accounts owned by an address

MCP support

This project is an MCP server that offers Solana RPC methods as tools to MCP clients such as Cline.

Configuration

Local server config is the same for every client. Copy it into your client’s MCP config file.

No install method listed yet

We haven’t collected a package or remote endpoint for this server. Follow the instructions in the project README.

  • get_minimum_balance_for_rent_exemption: Get minimum rent-exempt balance
Staking & Governance
  • get_vote_accounts: Get vote accounts
  • get_leader_schedule: Get leader schedule

Setup in Cline

  1. Add the following configuration to your Cline MCP settings file (~/Library/Application Support/Code/User/globalStorage/saoudrizwan.claude-dev/settings/cline_mcp_settings.json on macOS):
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "solana": {
      "command": "cargo",
      "args": ["run"],
      "cwd": "/path/to/solana-mcp-server",
      "env": {
        "SOLANA_RPC_URL": "https://api.mainnet-beta.solana.com" // Or your preferred RPC endpoint
      }
    }
  }
}
  1. Restart Cline to load the new MCP server.

Usage Examples

Once configured, you can interact with the Solana blockchain through natural language in Cline. Here are some example queries:

  • "What's the SOL balance of address Gh9ZwEmdLJ8DscKNTkTqPbNwLNNBjuSzaG9Vp2KGtKJr?"
  • "Show me the current slot number"
  • "Get information about the latest block"
  • "What's the current inflation rate?"
  • "Show me the token accounts owned by address ..."

From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.

An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
