About resumakeai-mcp

resumakeai-mcp is a hosted MCP server for ResuMakeAi that evaluates resumes against job descriptions. It returns ATS and match scores, missing skills, suggested keywords, and formatting issues, without authentication or local server setup.

Key features

  1. 01Check resume ATS parsing and formatting
  2. 02Score resume fit against a job description
  3. 03Identify missing skills and suggested keywords
  4. 04Flag formatting issues that may hinder parsing
  5. 05Connect directly to a hosted endpoint

Use cases

  1. 01Check resume fit before applying for a role
  2. 02Find job skills and keywords missing from a resume
  3. 03Identify formatting problems that may affect ATS parsing

MCP support

This hosted MCP server uses Streamable HTTP at https://www.resumakeai.com/api/mcp and requires no authentication. MCP clients can connect directly; the local Docker bridge is only for stdio-based setups.

Configuration

Remote servers need no local install. Pick your client, then copy the config or install in one click.

Cursor.cursor/mcp.json
VS Code.vscode/mcp.json
Claude Desktopclaude_desktop_config.json
Windsurf~/.codeium/windsurf/mcp_config.json

Run commands in a terminal; paste JSON into the client’s MCP config and restart. Servers that need sign-in will prompt on first connect.

Details

From the project README

ResuMakeAi MCP Server

A free, unauthenticated Model Context Protocol server for ResuMakeAi — an AI resume builder that matches resumes against live job postings instead of generic keyword advice.

This repo is mostly documentation — the server itself is hosted, not something you need to run locally. Connect any MCP client directly to the endpoint below. A Dockerfile is included only so directory scanners that require a buildable image can introspect the listing; it doesn't run the server, it bridges stdio to the hosted endpoint (see "Docker / local bridge" below).

Endpoint

https://www.resumakeai.com/api/mcp
  • Transport: Streamable HTTP
  • Auth: none
  • Rate limit: pooled across all callers, resets daily

Tools

score_resume

Scores a resume against a specific job description. Returns:

  • atsScore — 0-100 ATS parsing/formatting score
  • matchPercentage — 0-100 fit against the job description
  • missingSkills — skills the posting wants that the resume doesn't show
  • suggestedKeywords — keywords worth adding
  • atsIssues — specific formatting problems that risk mis-parsing

Input:

FieldTypeNotes
resumeTextstringPlain text of the resume, 50–6000 characters
jobDescriptionstringPlain text of the job posting, 50–4000 characters

Connecting

Claude Desktop / Claude Code (claude_desktop_config.json or equivalent):

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "resumakeai": {
      "url": "https://www.resumakeai.com/api/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Any other MCP client that supports Streamable HTTP transport can connect directly to the URL above — no local install, no API key.

Docker / local bridge

Not needed for normal use — this is only for tooling that expects a local, stdio-speaking MCP server (directory introspection scanners, or an MCP client that doesn't support remote HTTP servers directly). It bridges stdio to the real hosted endpoint above via mcp-remote:

docker build -t resumakeai-mcp .
docker run -i resumakeai-mcp

About ResuMakeAi

ResuMakeAi combines resume writing, ATS optimization, and live job matching in one tool: an AI resume builder, a free ATS + job-match checker (resumakeai.com/ats-checker), an AI cover letter generator, and AI interview prep, scored against real, currently-open listings pulled from five job boards.

New to MCP?

From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.

An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
