About Hive Consult
Hive Consult is a reasoning and decision-support service for agents, with tools for analysis and code or document review. It offers configurable reasoning depth through REST and MCP endpoints.
Key features
- 01Structured reasoning at three depths
- 02Trend, anomaly, forecast, and comparison analysis
- 03Weighted multi-criteria decisions
- 04Code, contract, document, and strategy review
- 05Batch consultations
Use cases
- 01Assessing options against weighted criteria
- 02Analyzing data trends or anomalies
- 03Reviewing code, contracts, or strategy
MCP support
Exposes an MCP-compatible JSON-RPC 2.0 endpoint at `/mcp`. MCP clients can discover and call tools for reasoning, analysis, decisions, and reviews.
Configuration
Remote servers need no local install. Pick your client, then copy the config or install in one click.

Authentication
Internal (platform-to-platform):
x-hive-internal: <service_key>
Bypasses payment for inter-service calls.
External (agent-to-agent):
Uses x402 micropayment protocol. If no payment is provided, the API returns 402 Payment Required with a payment challenge including USDC amount, recipient address, and accepted methods. Include payment proof in the X-Payment header.
Reasoning Depths
| Depth | Cost | Steps | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
quick | $0.01 | 3 | Fast heuristic analysis |
standard | $0.05 | 6 | Balanced reasoning with evidence weighing |
deep | $0.25 | 12 | Exhaustive multi-perspective analysis |

New to MCP?
From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.
An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
