About Algeria

Algeria is a read-only MCP server for assistants that need information about Algerian wilayas, communes, locations, and common administrative formats. Its bundled data lets it run locally without network calls.

Key features

  1. 01Search communes by name
  2. 02Look up wilayas and communes
  3. 03Find locations from GPS coordinates
  4. 04Track commune changes across reforms
  5. 05Validate Algerian administrative formats

Use cases

  1. 01Identify a commune from a GPS point
  2. 02Check which wilaya a commune belongs to
  3. 03Validate a phone number or RIP key

MCP support

It exposes read-only search, lookup, location, reform-history, and validation tools to MCP clients. The server runs locally over stdio and makes no network calls.

Configuration

Local server config is the same for every client. Copy it into your client’s MCP config file.

mcp.json · Universal config
{
"mcpServers": {
"syscli-algeria": {
"command": "npx",
"args": [
"-y",
"@syscli/algeria-mcp"
]
}
}
}
Run commandnpx -y @syscli/algeria-mcp

Local servers need a runtime on your machine (e.g. Node.js 18+). Config file locations differ by client; see your client’s docs.

algeria-mcp

npm CI

An MCP server that lets AI assistants answer questions about Algeria's 69 wilayas and 1541 communes from the Journal officiel, and check Algerian formats such as phone numbers and RIP keys.

Ask your assistant things like:

  • Which wilaya is Bou Saada in since 2026?
  • Which communes moved to the wilaya of El Kantara?
  • Which commune is the point 36.365, 6.6147 in?
  • Is the RIP 007 99999 0000000200 91 well formed?

Setup

Also listed in the official MCP Registry as io.github.syscli/algeria-mcp.

Claude Code:

claude mcp add algeria -- npx -y @syscli/algeria-mcp

Claude Desktop, Cursor and other clients, in their MCP configuration file:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "algeria": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["-y", "@syscli/algeria-mcp"]
    }
  }
}

It runs locally over stdio, needs Node.js 18 or later, and makes no network calls: all the data ships with the package.

New to MCP?

From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.

An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
