About Tesults MCP
Tesults MCP is an MCP server for AI agents and MCP-compatible tools to inspect Tesults test results, targets, and insights. It includes a reporting-only mode that limits available operations to reporting and analysis.
Key features
- 01Inspect test results and targets
- 02Retrieve test insights
- 03Reporting-only mode
- 04Create, edit, and delete targets
- 05Regenerate tokens
Use cases
- 01Investigate test failures and regressions
- 02Review test runs through an AI agent
- 03Restrict an instance to reporting operations
MCP support
It exposes Tesults results, insights, and target operations as tools for MCP clients. Setting `TESULTS_READ_ONLY=true` limits the server to reporting and insight tools and blocks non-GET requests locally.
Configuration
Local server config is the same for every client. Copy it into your client’s MCP config file.

Config file locations differ by client; see your client’s docs.

Quick start
claude mcp add tesults-mcp npx tesults-mcp -e TESULTS_API_TOKEN=your-api-token
Reporting-only mode
Set TESULTS_READ_ONLY=true in the MCP server's environment alongside
TESULTS_API_TOKEN. This exposes only the seven reporting and insight tools.
Target creation, editing, deletion and token regeneration are not registered,
and non-GET API requests are blocked locally.
Existing configurations remain unchanged when this setting is omitted or false.
This is a restriction in this MCP server, not a reduction in the API token's
permissions. Keep the token private. Insight tools can still generate and cache
AI analyses on the server; they do not change your test results or targets.
Requests time out after 60 seconds and responses are limited to 10 MiB.
For large result sets, request fewer runs or use cases=false for summaries.
API failures are returned as tool errors, not successful answers.
These options apply to this source version and require an updated installation once released. They do not change an already installed published package.
Offline checks
Run node --test tests/hardening.test.js. Tests do not call Tesults or use a real token.

New to MCP?
From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.
An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
