The Gold Barometer provides AI assistants with a daily 0–100 measure of gold buying conditions and historical context dating to 1971. Its read-only tools report readings and past outcomes without offering price predictions or investment advice.
Key features
- 01Retrieve today's score and zone
- 02Browse historical readings
- 03Compare outcomes by score zone
- 04Read public data without an API key
Use cases
- 01Review today's gold buying-conditions score
- 02Look up readings for past dates
- 03Examine what followed similar zones
MCP support
Exposes three read-only tools to MCP clients for current readings, reading history, and historical records by zone. It can run locally or through a hosted Streamable HTTP endpoint.
Configuration
Remote servers need no local install. Pick your client, then copy the config or install in one click.

Details
From the project READMEThe Gold Barometer MCP server
Gives AI assistants direct access to The Gold Barometer: a daily 0-100 score of gold buying conditions, compared with every trading day since 1971.
It measures conditions. It is not advice, and it does not predict the price.
Tools
| Tool | What it answers |
|---|---|
get_current_reading | Today's score, its zone, and the state of each measured part |
get_reading_history | Past readings, with or without the reconstructed month-end rows |
get_zone_record | What followed months in a given zone across the record since 1971 |
Install
Runs on Node 18 or newer. Add to your MCP client configuration:
{
"mcpServers": {
"thegoldbarometer": {
"command": "npx",
"args": ["-y", "thegoldbarometer-mcp"]
}
}
}
No key, no signup. The server only reads public endpoints.
Hosted endpoint (no install)
The same three tools are served over HTTPS for clients that take a URL (Smithery, Claude, Cursor, Windsurf, custom agents):
https://mcp.thegoldbarometer.com/mcp
Streamable HTTP, stateless, no key. Rate limited per IP at the edge.
GET /health answers {"ok":true,"tools":3}.

New to MCP?
From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.
An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
