About Twitch MCP Server
Twitch MCP Server connects MCP clients to Twitch Chat. Built with Quarkus, it lets clients call tools for a configured Twitch channel using channel and authentication settings.
Key features
- 01Connect MCP clients to Twitch Chat
- 02Configure a Twitch channel
- 03Provide Twitch authentication settings
Use cases
- 01Connect Claude to Twitch Chat
- 02Call Twitch tools for a configured channel
MCP support
Exposes Twitch Chat integration to MCP clients, with channel and authentication configured at launch.
Configuration
Local server config is the same for every client. Copy it into your client’s MCP config file.
We haven’t collected a package or remote endpoint for this server. Follow the instructions in the project README.
Tools
Local servers expose tools only once running on your machine, and the maintainer has not provided a tool list.
Details
From the project READMETwitch MCP Server
I got inspired to build this because of the following blog post by Max Rydahl Andersen: https://quarkus.io/blog/mcp-server/. I had written a Twitch Chat integration before, so decided to combine that knowledge with a Quarkus based MCP server as described by Max.
This project is described in a bit more detail on my blog: https://tomcools.be/post/2025-jan-twitch-chat-mcp/
Building the MCP Server
This application is currently not pushed to Maven Central, so you need to build it locally and install it in your .m2
folder using mvn install.
Next we need a way to start the JAR file. In the examples below you'll see I
used JBang.
Running the MCP server
With MCP Inspector
Run npx @modelcontextprotocol/inspector to start a local inspector service.
- Create an MCP configuration to run the following
- command:
jbang
["--quiet", "-Dtwitch.channel=YOUR_CHANNEL_NAME", "-Dtwitch.auth=YOUR_API_KEY", "be.tomcools:twitch-mcp:1.0.0-SNAPSHOT:runner"] - command:
Now you can manually call the tools.
With Claude Desktop
For Claude in claude_desktop_config.json
{
"mcpServers": {
"twitch-mcp-tomcools": {
"command": "jbang",
"args": [
"--quiet",
"-Dtwitch.channel=YOUR_CHANNEL_NAME",
"-Dtwitch.auth=YOUR_API_KEY",
"be.tomcools:twitch-mcp:1.0.0-SNAPSHOT:runner"
]
}
}
}
After restart, the tool should appear in your Claude UI.

From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.
An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
