About VenuNite Events

VenuNite Events is a hosted event-search MCP server for people looking for activities across the US. It filters by place, date, interests, and budget, and provides event details with source links; search requires no account or API key.

Key features

  1. 01Search events by place and date
  2. 02Filter by interests and budget
  3. 03Show event details and source links
  4. 04Create attributed ticket handoff links

Use cases

  1. 01Find local live music for a weekend
  2. 02Filter community events by budget
  3. 03Look for family-friendly activities
  4. 04Create a ticket link for a selected event

MCP support

It provides MCP clients with event search over Streamable HTTP and a ticket-handoff tool that requires a VenuNite API key. Search does not require authentication.

Configuration

Remote servers need no local install. Pick your client, then copy the config or install in one click.

Tools

ParameterTypeRequiredDescription
sortenumNoOrdering axis. Results are presented by calendar day in timezone; sort orders within each day. With query_text, the server selects the strongest event-text and venue-vibe matches under every sort, and sort only orders them. Without query_text, the result limit is shared across the days of the window: events starting inside it come before events already under way, and each day contributes its next event on the sort axis.date | distance | demand | relevance
limitintegerNoNumber of events to return. Default 20. Prefer small (5-10) when the user asked for a single recommendation.
date_endstringNoExclusive ISO-8601 end of the search window, including the local UTC offset. Default: 14 days from date_start. The words now, today, tonight, tomorrow and this weekend are also accepted and resolved in the caller's timezone. 'Tonight' → date_start + 6 hours. 'Next weekend' → date_start + 2 days. An event starting exactly at date_end is outside this window.
max_costnumberNoUpper bound on event cost in USD. 'cheap' ≈ 15, 'affordable' ≈ 30, 'under $X' → X. Events with no listed price stay in the results (most events list none), so present their price as unverified rather than excluding them. max_cost=0 returns only proven-free events. Leave unset if the user didn't constrain price.
min_costnumberNoLower bound on event cost. Rarely useful — only set when the user explicitly excluded free events.
timezonestringNoIANA timezone (e.g. 'America/New_York') used for the calendar-day grouping of results. Default UTC — pass the user's local zone so 'today/tomorrow' day buckets match their clock.
vibe_tagsarrayNoCanonical vibe vocabulary. Include tags the user explicitly or strongly implied. IMPORTANT: the tags `queer-friendly`, `family-friendly`, `all-ages`, `18-plus`, `21-plus` are HARD filters — only include them when the user's query explicitly asked for that property. Including `family-friendly` for a user who just said 'something fun tonight' will exclude most events.
categoriesarrayNoEvent category(s). Map the user's intent: 'live music' → music, 'standup' → comedy, 'trivia night' → trivia-games, 'art opening' → arts-culture. 'anything to do' → omit (no category filter).
center_latnumberNoLatitude (only if you already have precise coordinates — otherwise pass place_name).
center_lngnumberNoLongitude (paired with center_lat).
date_matchenumNooverlap includes events already running during the window, such as multi-day festivals or prior-night shows; events ending exactly at date_start are excluded. starts_within requires the event to start at or after date_start and before date_end. Prefer starts_within for requests about events starting tomorrow, on a specified date, this evening, or this weekend. Keep overlap when the user asks what is currently happening or wants ongoing activities.overlap | starts_within
date_startstringNoInclusive ISO-8601 start of the search window, including the local UTC offset. Default: now. The words now, today, tonight, tomorrow and this weekend are also accepted and resolved in the caller's timezone. For 'tonight' pass now. For 'this weekend' pass the upcoming Saturday midnight. The timezone field controls day grouping, not parsing: date-times without an offset are interpreted as UTC. Use date_match=starts_within when the user wants events starting on a particular date or evening.
local_onlybooleanNoSet true when the user's query implies 'in my immediate area' — 'what's on my block', 'nearby tonight', 'close by'. The server clamps the effective radius to a neighborhood-scale max based on local density (≤10mi urban, ≤30mi suburban, ≤50mi rural), even if radius_miles is larger. Prefer this over guessing a small radius — the server knows the density of the area and you don't.
place_namestringNoHuman-readable location if the user mentioned one: 'Westminster, CO' or 'Five Points Denver'. Prefer this over guessed lat/lng when you have a name; existing precise coordinates take precedence. Always include the state abbrev when the city name is ambiguous. An unresolved place returns location_unresolved; correct the place or use known coordinates rather than dropping the location.
query_textstringNoFree-text vibe description extracted from the user's query. Keep it short — e.g. 'chill jazz' or 'loud rock club'. Omit when the user's request is purely geographic / tag-based (e.g. 'any comedy shows tonight near me').
state_hintstringNoTwo-letter state abbreviation to disambiguate place_name (e.g. place_name 'Frederick' + state_hint 'MD'). Unnecessary when place_name already contains the state.
radius_milesnumberNoSearch radius in miles. OMIT this field to let the server pick a density-aware default: 5mi in dense metros (Chicago, NYC), 15mi suburban, 25mi rural. Only pass an explicit value when the user's phrasing implies a specific scope: - 'walking distance' / 'on my block' → 2-3 - 'near me' in a dense downtown or neighborhood → 5-7 - 'near me' in a suburb → 10-15 - 'metro area' / 'anywhere in <city>' → 25-30 - rural 'near me' or 'within driving distance' → 25-50 For a user who says 'things to do tonight' in Lincolnwood, Chicago, or any other dense-urban location: omit this field. Passing 15 there pulls events from 8-10 miles away in other neighborhoods, which is worse than the density-aware default. Range 0.5 to 500. An out-of-range value FAILS the entire call and returns zero events — it is not clamped — so omit the field rather than guessing. Use 'local_only: true' instead of a small radius when you're unsure of local density.
max_events_per_venueintegerNoPer-venue diversity cap. Default 1 — each venue contributes at most one event, giving a diverse 'what's on' feed. Raise to 3-5 for 'what's on at <specific venue>' queries where the user expects multiple shows from the same room.
include_unknown_pricesbooleanNoInclude events whose admission price cannot be determined. Default true preserves broad discovery; positive price bounds may then include unknown prices, which must be labeled unverified. false keeps only events with a listed price; most events list none, so it can empty an answer, and 'under $X' alone is not a reason to set it. When it leaves three or fewer results, applied_filters.available_if_relaxed reports how many the same search returns with unknown prices included. This never relaxes the proven-free requirement of max_cost=0.

VenuNite Events

Find US concerts, comedy, theater, trivia, festivals, community events, and family activities by place, date, interests, and budget. Results include event details and source links. Coverage varies by location.

This repository contains public client configurations for VenuNite's hosted MCP server. Search needs no account, API key, or local server installation. Client subscriptions and model usage are governed by the client provider.

Streamable HTTP endpoint: https://mcp.venunite.com/v1/mcp/

Free personal access and paid use

AccessCalls/minuteCalls/dayResults/searchSearch horizon
No signup or key30100 per retained signed transport session2090 days
Optional free account key30500 per account, shared across keys2090 days

Anonymous access also has shared-network abuse limits and a 10,000-result-row daily allowance per source IP. Clients must retain the server-issued session to keep a session allowance. Free keys have a 10,000-result-row daily allowance per account. The two access modes use the same event search and coverage.

Commercial products, bulk extraction, and REST API use require the appropriate paid plan. Check the MCP page for current limits and the service terms for permitted use. No signup is required to try personal event search.

Gemini CLI

gemini extensions install https://github.com/isaacaskew/venunite-events

Restart Gemini CLI, then inspect /mcp to confirm discovery. This extension enables search_events only, so every bundled tool works without credentials.

The manifest follows the Gemini extension format. It connects over HTTP and contains no executable hooks or local server code. Installing it directly does not depend on a gallery listing.

Claude Code

Install the plugin from VenuNite's repository marketplace:

claude plugin marketplace add isaacaskew/venunite-events
claude plugin install venunite-events@venunite

Or add only the hosted connector:

claude mcp add --transport http venunite-events https://mcp.venunite.com/v1/mcp/

See the Claude marketplace documentation. This repository marketplace is separate from approval in the public Claude Directory.

Claude, Perplexity, Grok, Mistral, and other remote MCP clients

In the client's custom connector settings, add the endpoint above and choose no authentication for event search. The client must support Streamable HTTP. Availability depends on the client's plan and administrator settings.

Custom installation does not imply approval or inclusion in a provider's catalog.

GitHub Copilot / VS Code

Merge the mcpServers entry from .mcp.json into your project's .mcp.json. For the VS Code configuration format, merge configs/vscode.json into .vscode/mcp.json instead. Preserve your existing server entries. Start the server using VS Code's MCP controls and review its tools before use.

Cursor

This repository includes a Cursor plugin manifest at .cursor-plugin/plugin.json, which connects to the hosted server without credentials. Marketplace listing requires Cursor's separate review; the manifest alone does not mean it is listed.

Merge configs/cursor.json into .cursor/mcp.json in your project or ~/.cursor/mcp.json for your user. Preserve existing entries.

Windsurf / Devin Desktop Cascade

Open the MCP config file from Cascade's Actions menu, then merge the server entry in configs/cascade.json. The current desktop documentation calls this product Devin Desktop. Enable the server and review the tool list in its MCP controls.

Tools and optional authentication

ToolWhat it doesAuthentication
search_eventsSearches event facts and source links using location, date and interest filtersNone, subject to fair-use limits
create_ticket_handoffCreates an attributed, preview-safe link for a selected eventA VenuNite live API key

Clients that discover every server tool will see create_ticket_handoff, but anonymous calls to it return authentication_required. Search results already include VenuNite event pages with ticket links when available.

For optional authenticated access, create your own key at VenuNite developer keys, then configure your client's secret/header mechanism to send Authorization: Bearer <key>. Never commit a real key. Gemini users can add an authenticated server in their own settings if they need the handoff tool; the bundled extension stays keyless.

A handoff does not purchase tickets, reserve inventory, or guarantee availability or final prices. The user reviews its page and explicitly selects Continue before leaving for the external ticket seller. Automated clients must leave that decision to the user.

The server receives tool arguments and connection metadata. Calls record quota and request telemetry. An uncached named location may be sent to the public Nominatim geocoder. The connector does not request whole conversation histories, local files, calendars, or email access.

Try it

  • Find live music in Denver this weekend under $30. Include dates and links.
  • Find free community events in Denver next weekend.
  • Find family-friendly activities in Boulder tomorrow.

Use a specific city and date window. Verify current event details with the linked venue or organizer; an empty search means no matching served events.

Development

The server runs on VenuNite infrastructure; this repository contains only configuration and documentation. Validate the Claude manifests with:

claude plugin validate .claude-plugin/plugin.json --strict
claude plugin validate .claude-plugin/marketplace.json --strict

The configuration files are MIT licensed. The hosted service and event data remain subject to VenuNite's service terms and the original sources' rights.
