About MCP Weather Server
MCP Weather Server handles weather data through an MCP server and includes a command-line client. It demonstrates asynchronous client-server interaction and can be extended with additional commands or data formats.
Key features
- 01Handle weather data and client requests
- 02Provide a command-line client
- 03Use asyncio for asynchronous communication
- 04Extend commands and data formats
Use cases
- 01Interact with the server from the CLI client
- 02Build weather-related features
- 03Extend supported commands or formats
MCP support
The MCP server handles weather data and client requests, and the project includes a command-line client for connecting and interacting with it.
Configuration
Local server config is the same for every client. Copy it into your client’s MCP config file.
We haven’t collected a package or remote endpoint for this server. Follow the instructions in the project README.
Tools
Local servers expose tools only once running on your machine, and the maintainer has not provided a tool list.
Details
From the project READMEMCP Weather Server
A lightweight Model Context Protocol (MCP) server designed for handling weather data, with a Command-Line Interface (CLI) client for interaction. This project demonstrates how to create and interact with an MCP server, focusing on weather-related information.
Features
- MCP Server: A modular server to handle weather data and client requests.
- CLI Client: A command-line tool to connect and interact with the server.
- Asynchronous Communication: Leverages
asynciofor efficient client-server interaction. - Extensibility: Easily extend the server to support additional commands or data formats.
Requirements
- Python 3.12 or higher
asyncio- Any additional Python packages can be found in
requirements.txt.
Installation
-
Clone the repository:
git clone https://github.com/Hritik003/mcp-weather-server.git -
Start the server
cd Server uv --directory <path/to/weather> run weather -
Start the Client
cd mcp-Client uv run client.py <path/to/server.py>

New to MCP?
From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.
An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
