About Weather MCP Server
Weather MCP Server is a simple MCP server built with FastAPI and the MCP framework, providing weather data to AI assistants. It relies on the WeatherAPI service and suits developers who need basic weather information.
Key features
- 01Current conditions and 1 to 14 day forecasts
- 02Historical weather data
- 03Weather alerts and air quality information
- 04Astronomy data and location search
- 05Timezone information and sports events
Use cases
- 01Asking an AI assistant for a city's forecast for the coming week
- 02Checking air quality and weather alerts for a location
- 03Retrieving sunrise, sunset and moon phase data
MCP support
This project is an MCP server that exposes weather-related tools, such as current conditions, forecasts and air quality, to MCP clients.
Configuration
Local server config is the same for every client. Copy it into your client’s MCP config file.
Tools
Local servers expose tools only once running on your machine, and the maintainer has not provided a tool list.

New to MCP?
From what the protocol is to installing your first server, these answers cover most first questions.
An open protocol that defines how AI applications connect to external tools and data in a uniform way. Clients talk to the model; MCP servers provide tools, resources and prompt templates. They exchange standard messages, so one server can be reused by many clients.
